Class of 2015

Duke rowing head coach Robyn Horner announced on Thursday the signing of Brielle Batesko, Sophia Blair, Alex Enzor, Patricia Kolman, Kara Risser, Julie Rohde, and Karolina Wadolowska to join the Blue Devils for the 2011-12 season.

"This class will be really special to our program," said Horner. "They are all hard-working athletes who will add immediately to our program's speed, but even more so to fostering our culture of excellence. We were very selective in finding rowers that understand our high reaching goals and who want to be apart of the experience to take our program to new heights."

Happy Thanksgiving to the Weight Room

Ok, so they look better than my daughter Gwen's hand turkey, but she is only in Kindergarten. We are in the last week of classes and just loaded the trailer for Miami. Winter has finally found Durham, NC. It took a good long time to get here. Probably the best fall season ever! Happy Holiday, we will post from Miami.

Duke Rowing Medals at Head of Genesee

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke rowing came away with three medals, including two in the open 8+ and one in the open 4+, in the program's first trip to the Head of the Genesee on Saturday afternoon.

Duke's A entry in the open 8+ of coxswain Justine Hong, Emily Theys, Rory Erickson-Kulas, Alex Japhet, Katie Burke, Kathy Smithwick, Laura Sciarrino, Kathryn Lowry and Stephanie Rosser took first place, while Duke's second boat of coxswain Caroline Kiritsy, Ashleigh Anne McKinstry, Katy Gregor, Grace Cassidy, Breanna Briede, Laura Kuhlman, Sydney Johnson, Laura Guth and Joline Doedens took third in the competition.

In the open 4+, Duke's boat of coxswain Emi Marchetti, Alison Beattie, Tori Arendt, Julijana Englander and Shannon Sims took third overall.

The Blue Devils have now claimed first-place finishes in five of the six races they have entered during the fall season. Up next for the team is a two-day event at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Nov. 6 and 7.
